MediaTek Inc. is a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company founded in 1997 and headquartered in Hsinchu. It designs chips for wireless communications, high-definition television, smartphones, tablets, navigation systems, consumer multimedia, DSL services, and optical disc drives. As of Q3 2020, it became the largest smartphone chipset vendor with a 31% market share, aided by strong performance in China and India. It was the third-largest fabless chip designer worldwide in 2016 and operates 41 offices globally.
